FERC Nominees Approved by Senate Committee

Published 6 Jun, 2017

Earlier this morning, the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources overwhelmingly approved the nominations of both FERC commissioner nominees, Mr. Chatterjee and Mr. Powelson. Both candidates received 20 votes in favor, with 3 voting against their nomination.

Both candidates received unanimous support from the Republican members of the Committee and were approved 8 to 3 by the Democratic members. No timeline for the full Senate vote was given but based on recent Senate confirmations a voice vote can be held as quickly as 2 days after the Committee favorably approves the nominee. More controversial nominees can take much longer, but given the vote this morning we would expect these nominees to be quickly approved.
